Redlands Sporting Foundation cool with our school!

Recently our Principal, Mick Lawrance, presented Cr Paul Gleeson with a cheque for $1200 to contribute to the Redlands Sporting Foundation. Cr Gleeson is spearheading the pilot project to assist 100 children from low income families with the costs involved to play organised sport.

'Participating in organised sport nowadays can be an expensive business. Our whole school has got behind this project to help families whose finances won’t stretch to cover sporting costs. We want to ensure that all kids have the opportunity to improve their fitness, develop their sporting potential and have some fun with their friends', said Principal Mick Lawrance.

Through the project, children aged between eight and twelve years from selected schools in the Redlands can apply for $100 to cover costs such as game fees or sporting equipment. This will top up the $150 available to low income families through the state government’s Get in the Game program.

'The response from the whole school has been amazing. The final donation was a collaborative effort between the Student Council who raised funds through a “dress in your favourite sport clothes” day, the P&C and the school administration', said P&C President Michelle Daly.
