The Arts at Coolnwynpin State School

Our vision across our Arts Program is to further develop and maintain a performing arts sector within the school that will support, engage and develop student participation in performing arts and across other curriculum areas.

The learning areas of ‘The Arts’ is widely regarded as a vital part of educational experiences as it supports: enhanced engagement, improved attendance and appeals to the multiple intelligences of all students.  With this in mind, it was decided in 2015 that Coolnwynpin State School would develop a program to not only teach the Arts as a learning area, but provide an excellence program to extend students with particular interests, talents and skills in various areas of the Arts.

At its commencement in 2016, the program focused on vocal excellence, and currently has a 16 piece Senior Performance Choir consisting of students who have successfully auditioned for their part in this group.  These students attend weekly vocal lessons, lunchtime rehearsals and are committed to a performance and rehearsal schedule.

To provide students with opportunities outside of the school environment, they attend various excursions including: Creative Generation: State Schools on Stage, competing at Redlands Eisteddfod, attending Singfest, and visiting local community groups to acknowledge events in our community (such as Under 8’s Day and Seniors' Week).

We look forward to expanding our program in 2017 with the inclusion of a Visual Arts Club and the production of our a School Musical.
