Resource centre

Coolnwynpin State School’s Resource Centre is staffed with a teacher-librarian and a part time teacher-aide. Both welcome all members of our school community and are available to assist students, staff and parents with the  borrowing of resources or access to information. The Resource Centre is home to the school library and a computer lab.

The library has a large collection of literature, non-fiction books, mobile technologies such as iPads and teacher resources, which aim to support the curriculum as well the recreational needs of students. All classes have a weekly class borrowing time. Students can also borrow books independently as often as they wish at first break. Classes from Prep to Year 2 have regular classes with the teacher-librarian where they have the opportunity to develop a love of literature and progressively explore the range of resources from different sections within the library.

Within the Resource Centre is a modern, air-conditioned computer lab with 30 computers providing whole class access. Classes are timetabled to use the lab regularly enabling teachers to integrate Information and Communication Technologies into student learning activities. Teachers use the interactive whiteboard to demonstrate new applications and teach effective, safe internet usage to students.

The Coolnwynpin Resource Centre is a vibrant and popular place during first break where students are able to borrow books, access computers, play board and card games, relax with a jigsaw and create using Duplo, Lego and other construction materials.
